So, the industry people I know/have met keep stressing the need to have a WEB PRESENCE if you want to sell books. Livejournal ain't gonna cut it for me - not THIS account anyway. So, I've started a blog. It's here: Cat Vacuuming! No, I'm not abandoning LJ (inasmuch as I seldom post as it is). Cat Vacuuming is going to exist at a slight remove from ( Read more... )

OK, but my burning question...did your trip to Pittsburgh accomplish what you needed it to?

I accomplished... well, blessed little in all honesty. But I got a first-hand look at the house, got a few things out of it that we'd wanted. The other stuff was strangely gone. And I learned that we weren't the only ones our former tenant stiffed. She'd rented a couple of VERY large televisions from a local place and walked off with them in her possession.

Also- I got to see a lot of folks I haven't seen since we moved, so... all in all I'd call it a success!

I know precious little about the situation. Is she the lawyer you wanted to sue?

Glad it was worthwhile overall. What's your next step with the house there?

Yep - she's the one. Next step is to finish things up with the mortgage company and sign over the deed. Made me sick for a long time, and I fought the realization that we just couldn't afford to keep the place, but now that I've come to terms with it, I'm aching to just move on.

And now that I've read your first two entries, I'll weigh in...that they are REALLY long for blog posts. Author sites might be different than the ones I follow, so feel free to take this with a salt lick, but there it is.

It's fun reading, which is probably what matters most. Hope it helps you out!

I think, as blog posts go, they -are- on the long side, but after a brief survey of some authors I read/admire - not unusually so. William Gibson's blog posts appear to be VERY short. John Scalzi's vary widely. George Martin hits 600 when he's often enough that I don't feel too bad and Elizabeth Bear posts a LOT of short entries but the occasional big honker.

BUT - I very much appreciate your input! I expect future entries will be shorter, too. The two entries that are up are only part of the variety of content I plan to generate. Gotta have more than just the one trick up my sleeve. :)

Thanks for reading!!
