It sure doesn't seem like it's been eight years, but sure enough - my little girl turns eight years old today. I've made a habit over the years of retelling her birth story on this day, but I'm breaking it this year

So well said. Loopy, I envy your way with words. And this makes me rue that I haven't had a chance to know Marenna well. Perhaps I'll get a chance to see her perform on stage some day, all grown and lithe and excelling at whatever form of dance she loves most (and can find work in!)
