Since I've got so much free time this afternoon, I'm posting the surviving WIPs of my recent "The Fallen" drawing in this post. There were a few more than I have here, but I deleted and renamed some. Anyway, in chronological order, here is the WIPs gallery -- "The Making Of A 20-Hour Doodle" XD.  Please note that WIPs were not saved at regular ( Read more... )

I admit, I giggled at Sebastian's sudden appearance. Ta-da!

Damn, I can't believe I missed the detail that it was a particular type of butterfly--especially since you gave much such a nice HR file, I should have easily been able to see the skull shape! And I know about the death's-head types, too. Knowing you, I should have paid more attention to the design on the wings. *g*

That's interesting about the glass--though I know they're an influence from Beardsley, it feels like I can see an echo of a stained-glass feel in the feathers at the tops of Angela's wings, but I may wrong about that...? I'm intrigued that the moon wasn't intended to be there are first--it makes such an effective, intruding curve against the ones of the windowframe!

I still love how well-arranged this is, how the design and use of b&w mean that the eye doesn't see Angela's head under it's far too late and they've already been drawn into the 'world' or the picture, and it jolts even more because of that. ♥♥♥

Okay, okay, I'm sure you've had enough of my gushing ( ... )

Yep, Sebastian's sudden appearnace (lol) is a result of a lapse of about 1.5 hour between WIP 5 and WIP 6. XD ( ... )

MMmmm... I love knowing about the butterfly.

It's intriguing seeing JUST how much work the moon was (dot dot dot is such an understated way of saying it)!! And I did love how both the people in the picture just "appeared". Makes me think that you think of people as being a "whole thing" and don't think of other things while you're finishing someone. *laughs*

It's fun to see everything in the order you actually did them...

Crazy little details like the butterfly make this type of picture so much fun to do. Only this time though, I had too many ideas that wanted to be a part of this project and I didn't have room for them. XD Dot dot dot... went on like thousands of times I believe. lol I tend to finish a drawing element by element -- roses, person -- a chunk at a time. XD
