Curious about the smutterday picture.. are those organs or mechanical parts..? What makes this mapmaking style click with you? When I was a kid I wanted to be the person who drew maps in the front of fantasy books.. My dad was a geologist and we had tons of topographical maps laying around and I'd draw fantasy things all over them (and get in big trouble when it was something he actually needed for a presentation or something..)
np! discord is easier for me to keep up with day to day, but I still prefer the structure of a platform like LJ to keep everything in order. c:
for the map... I'm basically painting it instead of jumping straight to lineart? for some reason it's much easier for me to lay out landmasses as solid colour blocks instead of the more 'traditional' inked style.
and yeah, that's mechanical stuff in the smutterday! these characters are cyborgs with implanted wings, and some of the artificial nerves can be very... stimulating, lol.
The design of the Day 11 Monster is especially striking - something about the technique makes it seems like something jut spotted in the corner of my eye. Don't know how fitting that is to the creature, but it's a great impression!
Azriel's wings are fantastic too - there's such an ethereal look to them!
