Being the proverbial 'Jack of all Trades' actually sucks. It might seem nice to know that no matter what you try, you'll be good at it; but in reality in the end you just feel like 'second best

there was once a story that I was told when I was little. it was how the Donkey became. when the animals first decided what they were going to be, the donkey wanted to be every kind of animal there was, a lion, eagle, fish, ect. he practiced being those animals every day but he never took on a real form or become a specific animal. everyone is like this at one time or another. no one knows what they will be unless they make their minds up.
I don't think I've met anyone who has ever considered themselves better than 'really good' and these are people who I know for a fact are bloody brilliant at what they're doing. As a matter of fact, it seems like only the best stay dissatisfied with their own work and progress, whereas the mediocre are much more prone to self-satisfaction. Just an observation, by the way - never mind the lurker!

The best way to find this one thing is to really listen to your heart. Take your time, go for a (ore some) long walks or wherever you feel the way that you the one and only person in the world right now and are totally free. Then reflect about your deepest wishes and be serious abut that. (You will know when you're ready believe me

What I'm really good at

I found what I'm really good at by being forced into it. I'm a creative, energetic college grad, but my plans changed when I had a baby two years ago. I thought I had all the time in the world to accomplish the things that I wanted to do, scrapbooking, singing, drawing, writing. But at the moment I have one little demand on my time and he's not waiting for anything! I can't choose what to spend my time on, per se...so I throw myself in headfirst into being the best darn Mommy I can be! I came to the realization only a month ago that I don't really have the time to spend on my pursuits...I have to put those aside for a while. So, this may not help...but what I'm best at...found me. I wasn't ready, but I found out what I needed to do really quickly. And I've never looked back. I hope you find peace... --Morgan
I've always been similarly blessed/cursed. The solution came to me, though... I didn't find it. Perhaps your solution will come to you? For me, I got married and had a kid - this is absolutely what I was meant for. I'm gonna be a sweet homeschooling parent and we are going to be adoptive parents too. Home and family are what God made me for! I am not a pharmacist, a nurse, an engineer, or an artist... by trade. I'm not exactly a teacher either - I'm just a parent. :-) Good luck! We are glad for the time you're being an artist.
