We've approved this tagged as a "caution" post. This is a new category we'll be allowing for artists and clients that aren't entirely beware worthy, but their behavior is still something to be wary of.

Phew, Burbon. that went downhill quick. I can see how any less experienced artist can be bulled into doing more than what they originally agreed to, and the complete meltdown is definitely a beware well warranted.

Also, did they show you this client ToS of theirs? Because if they're going to be using it against artist they kind of have to show it to them, first. Especially since the artist ToS trumps the client ToS if they negotiate with the artist before hand.

That was my biggest concern and part of what prompted me to post a beware. I worry about artists who aren't as experienced being confronted with this kind of behavior.

Nope, I was never given any kind of link to a TOS or anything, I was only made aware of it (not linked to it) when I requested payment.

I can't even find their ToS on their FA page, so if they want to use it it has to be more easily accessible.

In truth, I felt pretty pushed against as well when I was asked to pay $30 for 30 minutes of streamed drawing. I offered $15 which apparently wasn't good enough, since she refunded it and then wrote this.

A two character thigh high sketch from me is $80. I was being lenient with only asking for $30 because there were no flat colors.

Reading this made me absolutely livid. You have a lot more patience than me. This caution post is a beware well warranted for me, personally. Yikes.

Wow just the initial conversation with the constant haggling is already a big no for me. The way he speaks to you is quite disrespectful in general, especially the "I'll do YOU a solid" for working in accordance with your ToS.
I feel like you dodged a bullet there, he sounds like an extremely picky and rude customer.

The haggling was intended primarily for the Autobuy, since my concern wasn't to get it as cheap as possible for myself(my price was agreed to be at $100 and increase the starting bid to compensate)

The haggling was to try and bring the Autobuy down so, when someone bid, they were more likely to reach the autobuy. An Autobuy taken at $500 would in my book be better than an autobuy not taken at $650 and instead end up with $400 end bid. That was my thought process anyway.

But was I haggling for myself? No, I was not. In fact, more so for her, than anybody else.

I actually meant the haggling at the very start when a YCH was not even on the table but it was only about the bust. And that seems an awful lot like haggling for yourself to me, for example the part about the background being just "a bunch of wrinkles".

The further into the conversation I read the more put off I was but personally I would have told any client to find an artist better suited for their budget/idea starting at screenshot #4 already.
