I hope some public minded citizen accommodates this group.

So many things to say, so few words...

One thing that always cracks me up about biblical literalists--particularly those focused on the Apocalypse described in Revelations--is how there will only be a few thousand people saved. A few thousand! Doesn't seem to make much sense to try and save the whole world if only a few thousand are going to make it.

Hell, when there's limited seating, I discourage people from going...

no no no.

They need to tell everyone ABOUT jesus, so THEY can be saved (the tellers), not the people who were just told about it.

Frankly, that article really made me stop and pause that perhaps a reason why so many christians aren't worked up over the environmental situation (global warming issues) is that they view it as part of the plan to be wiped out eventually. But that's ok, because THEY'LL be saved first.

(and now I'm in a mood to go out and about crucifying christians)...

The statistic that should scare the shit out of every thinking non-believer from that article is that forty percent of Americans surveyed believe we are in the countdown. When you're headed for the end of the world, little things like ivil rights, environmental concerns and the rule of law seem a lot less important. Forty percent; that's a fierce and obviously active electoral block. That is more dangerous to world peace than Iranian nukes.

The problem, as I see it, isn't that the millennialists are going to freak out 'cause "Jeeeee-zus is coming." The problem is, the millennium came and went, and neither Jesus, the Messiah, nor the Mahdi failed to show up. (What, were you busy at the time? *grin*) Consequently, some of these nutjobs are now trying to push the issue, to force God's hand. As I said elsewhere, I don't fear the Apocalypse; I fear what some fanatics will do trying to bring it about.

What really scares me is that some of them are in high positions of political power, right here in America ( ... )
