Day 02 - The most underrated movie

Okay I will sort of go against my word with this one because I have stated that it is not an underrated movie, just not a well known one. But in this case I'm declaring the two as one and the same. From what I read, this movie got good reviews.... it's just hardly known, really.

Yeah I think the entire cast is marvelous. Why the HECK did it not become an acclaimed film? Life, you are not fair sometimes. I love both MP and SOM but I guess people were just more in the mood for happy pictures rather than this one with a serious tone lol.

I love the banter in this movie between Emily and Charlie. Wit and sarcasm are things I appreciate! lol

I agree with Hoppply - It was an amazing movie with incredible acting but stuck in between two huge hits from Julie that were so very different from this one. This showed her relying on her acting alone and believe me she didn't need her singing voice to help her one bit!

Oh same here. I love sarcasm -- if it's done well. I absolutely love the humor but, most of all, the irony in this film.

Yeah, I absolutely love her acting in it, too. It's one of those gems where I think it should have been an acclaimed hit but for some reason it didn't become one.

This movie has been shown on TCM for years now, but I still haven´t gotten around to watching it... Sounds like I might be missing out on a good thing...

(I like all the actors in it, though...)

I definitely think you are missing out. It's also available on DVD and it's great quality. This is Julie's only black and white film and I absolutely love it. I thought it was shot beautifully. Plus... the story is just damn good. And sexy!

I've always been very iffy about watching it since the synopsis didn't really capture my interest, but definitely will it a shot :)

If someone told me to pick Julie's best movie aside from her most successful ones (MP and SOM) I would pick this one in a heartbeat. :) Maybe you won't like it, maybe you will. I think it's worth a try. The movie has thoughts, I like stuff like that.
