For The Love Of Photography

Feb 15, 2010 13:56

My love for photography and my love for movies/actors (especially classics lately) decided to unite. This isn't as much of a classic actors picspam as classic/ vintage film portraits. They are amazing. I think back then they did marvelous shots of actors and those photographers had to be at the top of their game. I absolutely adore their use of ( Read more... )

Yes, I actually have seen Rear Window. It's listed among my favorite movies. :)

I don't know much about Olivia as far as her other movies go but I absolutely love how she played Melanie and she seemed pretty lovely in interviews. And then i found those pictures of her and thought she looked very pretty.

The thing with Fred and Ginger is that I realize they are legendary but I'm not big on dancing. I'm fascinated alright but i get bored if it lasts too long. For example, as shocking as this may seem, I am nowhere near as crazy about the Step In Time sequence in Mary Poppins as many people are. It's rather boring for me after a while lol. But I certainly will give their movies a try, they look lovely together and I absolutely love Cheek To Cheek. :) (Though I'll admit I listen to Julie's version of it mainly lol).

And don't worry, I NEVER mind long comments lol.

I love you for this pic spam.

Ava and Katharine were the first actresses I ever loved and I adore all of your other choices too, and the photographs are just stunning.

Your collection is wonderful! I had to wipe off the drool from my keyboard to comment on this gorgeous picspam! I feel ashamed that I have yet to watched ANY of Grace Kelly's films! >.<

Without a doubt Audrey Hepburn is a real beauty ♥ But Vivien Leigh.. her smile and her eyes are killer combos, she's just divine isn't she? :) Julie Andrews is seriously underrated - she has a nurture and motherly appeal ♥

I do not mean to pry, but have you watched "Funny Face"? It is definitely one of Fred Astaire's and Hepburn's greats ♥ :) Again, great picspam! I always look forward to your wonderful choices and beautiful coloring ♥

LOL. I have watched Grace's movies with Hitchcock, they are SO good. I also loved her in Mogambo, although I wasn't fond of her character in it. But hey... it's got her and Ava Gardner AND Clark Gable. It's an incentive to watch! lol

Yeah I think Vivien was very much like Scarlett in the sense that all she needed was a smile and things would get done quickly LOL. I adore Julie and I know a lot of people have a motherly image of her, and I certainly see why, but I never had. Some people have a hard time viewing her as beautiful or sexy even, both of which I think she very well can be. (Darling Lili is one of her sexiest roles I think). :D But either ways, she's loved. Even if she had never been considered a sex symbol, she reached legendary status and people are overwhelmed and very excited whenever she's around.

I haven't seen Funny Face and no worries, it's not prying. ;) I've heard about it though, I'll put it on my list to watch.

Thank you! :D

I really have to give it a go then :) Hitchcock is *the man* - I loved "Psycho" and "The Birds," a lot of people suggested "Rebecca" but I'm not entirely sure if I should rent it. I have yet to watch anything with Ava Gardner yet! Any recommendation featuring Gardner?

I think I have that depiction of her because of "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music." But I do see a sexy image of her in "Victor Victoria" :) I would enlist "Darling Lili" to one of things I should watch. I agree - she is beloved by many many people. Personally, it is her ethereal aura and classy approach that appeals to me ♥

Your welcome! :)

Beautiful pictures. <3 I agree that the pictures from the golden age were such much better than todays. I love black and white pictures. They really seem to bring out so much more even though there is no color.
