I was 20 years old, just starting my second year of college in upstate NY. I had no early classes on Tuesdays, so I slept till almost 10. When I woke up and looked at all the away messages on AIM, I was puzzled. Finally, a friend let me know what was going on, and I tuned in just in time to watch one of the towers fall. The phone lines were nearly impossible to get through on, so calling my friends and family on Long Island was difficult. Not that I thought they were in danger, but when something like that happens in the space between you and your loved ones, there's always this urge to check in ( ... )
