I think I am just having a hard time bonding to the new kids because I CANNOT STOP THINKING OF THE OLD KIDS.

That's how I am, as well =/ That and I just can't bring myself to like Jason AT ALL, or Piper. Jason's Holier Than Thou attitude just makes me want to shove him off a cliff (except, WAIT, HE CAN FLY ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE).

What irked me the most is I really feel like we were led on. The preview chapters, the title...it all seemed like this was definitely going to be a quest to rescue Percy, and then he was hardly even mentioned, and I just couldn't get into it.

I think I'm going to have to reread it as well, to be honest, but honestly, I'm so apathetic towards their real quest that I almost don't know that I'll be able to =/ My favorite parts of the book were the beginning, with the new cabin descriptions, the new guys' intro to CHB and Annabeth angst, and the end...where we were back at CHB and the old characters were back in the story again.

I liked this book, I suppose, but it was also really disappointing, so idk.

I was initially surprised by HOW MUCH CHB was in, or, at least, seemed to be, since RR had promised that Percy's story was over. I'd been assuming that they'd be MUCH older, and we'd see them in a leadership role at camp. So I feel like my hopes were dashed, raised again, ONLY TO BE OBLITERATED BY THIS BOOK.

My favorite parts are the same. I don't think I'm going to bother working any of this into my fics, especially when I had my post canon world set anyway, lol. Maybe in five years when the series is over...

I have two fic ideas out of this, actually, but one is Annabeth + Sally and one is angsty Nico based on speculation, so. I want to write some Percy/Annabeth angst, too, but the inspiration there is dead |: Regardless, shows my priorities with characters...x.x

Riordan did say Percy's story was over, but now I'm kind of hoping he'll be one of the seven, since he's the leader of the Greeks/transplated to Roman camp guy. They've established that Jason will be the main leader (x_______X), but I still want Percy to play a part in all of this, so I'M HOPING. HARD.

GOD IT BURNS ME THAT WE WILL NEVER GET A GLIMPSE OF SALLYS REACTION TO THIS WHOLE THING, I was already thinking about it, and then Annabeth MENTIONED that they'd contacted Sally. POOR SALLY.

SO UH. MORE FIC, YES PLEASE.

I think Percy will play a part in all this - definitely one of the seven, but now I'm so confused. First he was in it more than I thought he would, then he wasn't in it enough. I AM A FRAGILE SOUL RSQUARED.

So, like, these Camp Bizarro kids stormed Mt. Orthys simultaneously during the Battle of Manhattan. Does that mean that they took credit for ending the war?

I WAS WONDERING THIS TOO. From the way it sounds, they didn't get anywhere near the credit the CHB kids did because, hey, the Greek kids saved Olympus and took out the Big Bad himself. The Romans kind of ... just did the clean-up work? I wonder how much communication Lupa and Chiron do when it comes to the two camps because they had to have coordinated that attack together.

It's not even that Camp Bizarro did the clean up work, DO THEY EVEN KNOW THAT'S ALL THEY DID? Or did they just assume that once they took down Mt. Orthys that PROBLEM SOLVED LOLZ.

Seriously, what do we expect from RSquared anyway? I'M WRITING OT3 FIC WITHOUT THIS UNIVERSE. OR WHATEVER I CHOOSE TO CHERRY PICK FROM THIS UNIVERSE.

I THINK MAYBE THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE HOT SHITS AND NOW MUST BOW BEFORE THE REAL HOT SHIT, PERCY JACKSON

Makes me wonder if the Romans ever encountered Kronos or Luke in person? Percy was always the one that went up against him, but that was like, once or twice a year. Maybe they only decided to go after the Titans after Mount Orthys started reforming? Because if Luke/Kronos had known about Jason...

RETCON HARDER, WHY DON'T YOU RICK

OH GOD IF PERCY TURNS INTO A REAL HOT SHIT I'M GONNA DIE. I like to write him a little bit that way, but he always has Annabeth (and sometimes Nico) to knock him down a peg...

WHEN WAS MY. ORTHYS OFFICIALLY CONSIDERED REFORMED? DID NOBODY LOOK THROUGH A TELESCOPE DURING TITANS CURSE AND GO "...OH HAY. THERE'S A GIRL OVER THERE UNDER THE SKY. NAH, SHE'S GREEK, FUCK HER MAN."

The idea of Luke encountering them... THERE IS ALL KINDS OF CRAZINESS WE COULD WRITE. Did Luke try to recruit them? Maybe it's the Hogwarts Issue, but I always thought that Percy ended up fighting more half-blood than the books seemed to indicate were at camp.

First, let me say--ha! Yeah, subtlety was not really RR's strong point on this one. He spent a lot of time telling us what we should think about certain characters without giving us reason to do so, which I think is a classic writing problem that occurs when you get too involved with your own characters ( ... )

Yeah, for as much fun as I had last night, I don't actually think that Percy will get a Roman girlfriend (though I WOULD love for him to meet Minerva, lol) nor do I think Annabeth will die, but only because it'll shift the story back to THEM and I don't think RR has any intention of doing that. I think Percy and Annabeth will end up among the seven, but, I dunno, maybe they'll do stuff off screen or something? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. First they were in it more than I expected, then they were in it LESS than I expected. MY HEART, RR, IT CAN'T TAKE THIS.

AMNESIA STORY, I NEED IT IN MY LIFE BASICALLY.

Yeah, my heart isn't doing so well either. This is just kind of mean of him. (Digs back into ice cream. Mmmmm.) I don't really think either of those things will happen either, but I feel like my logical side is doing battle with my instinctual, emotional, "Oh noooooooes, this could be awful!" side.

Off-topic, I know, but how is it that RR has consistently remembered that Annabeth has a cell phone, but never addressed that empathy link between Grover and Percy? I mean, the gray streaks also, but the empathy link drives me nuts, because wasn't the idea that if one died, the other would also? And doesn't that seem like sort of a huge liability to have in, say, an epic battle against the titans in which many people will die? I mean, what's the point of becoming invulnerable if you're possibly going to drop dead at any second because of something completely out of your control?

Also, unpopular opinion, but I'd guess Annabeth over Nico as one of the seven.
