Seriously, at first I was like "Oh, hello random earthbending child!" until they arrest him and s/he's all "Father!" and I'm like OH MY GOD THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE HARU. THAT LITTLE GIRL CAN'T GROW A MUSTACHE BY SEASON THREE!
There really aren't any words. You could just tell by the general atmosphere that the ENTIRE AUDIENCE was pissed off by the end. It was awful.
GUESS WHAT? This was the worst. It's been so long since I've watched Book One though, so I need to go marathon it so I can remember how truly awesome it is.
Yeah, I will admit that it did make me want to go back and rewatch the entire series. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH. It really is amazing! I cannot believe it was butchered this way but... meh. I'm mostly angry because I'm worried that new people will reject the show because of this movie, not realizing how awesome it is. The people who are already into the show realize that the movie is a lost cause at this point.
;) So all they did was make him a few years younger, huh?
I'm starting to recognize why the fandom went nuts about this a few years ago (which made me leave the fandom entirely), but I'm glad I'm not seeing it. What a pity, and such a waste of such excellent source material. It'll probably go the way of His Dark Materials and never get a second movie.
Yeah, like I explained above, I knew it was going to be bad, and I'm pretty sure that the fandom as a whole was pretty aware that it wasn't going to be good - I didn't realize exactly HOW BAD until I read all the reviews the other day - but I worry for the people who are new and coming to the series. I really hope they go get the DVDs, the whole universe is too amazing to pass over this way.
I'm just...............wow. I'm not even sure how to begin to RESPOND to this much FAIL. I've read/seen the reviews and all that, but I just........................UGH. It definitely seems like something that I'm gonna have to check out myself just ONCE (because GOD, I don't think that my poor eyes and brain could do it twice) just so that I can say I did go and see it, even I'm fairly certain that I'll think it's complete and utter shit, that's okay. I'm gonna take my 15 and 8 year old brothers to see it, and dude, if they both start making comments about how this and that are different, I will laugh my ass off. Do you know how awesome that'd be if an 8 year old was pointing stuff like that out?!?! WIN.
I'll do my best to remember to come back and post another comment. Either that, or just keep an eye out for my post about it, because believe me, I'm-a gonna have some crap to talk about once I get done with it. *grumbles*
Oh it was just terrible. It didn't make sense, there was no reason for the characters to be together, and also, btw, they pronounced everyone's name incorrectly. Just. Terrible. It's not even that I'm that furious about it, I'm mostly mad because I don't want it to reflect poorly on ME as a fan of the series. What a disservice to the fans.
I'm not sure if I should be pissed or mind-boggled or outraged or sad or furious or all of the above! A friend of mine sent me links to a couple of articles, one being from racebending.com that talked about all the differences between the series and the movie, and I was just PISSED. There was SO MUCH that was changed and/or wasn't even mentioned. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that with it being a movie, that they have only a limited amount of time, so only certain parts can be present and all that, and that's COMPLETELY understandable. What I DON'T get is how the characters foundations have been so fucked over, pardon my french
( ... )
Okay, HOW can you mispronounce characters' names when they were said the exact same way, EVERY SINGLE TIME in the series itself? I mean, really?! That just blows my freaking mind, ngl.
According to M.Night, he made that change to respect the "language of origin". BUT THE SKIN COLOR, THAT'S OKAY TO DISRESPECT THE HELL OUT OF.

1. Go see movie with Avatard friends.
2. Mock movie relentlessly and without mercy.
3. Demand money back after it's over.
4. Profit!
See, it's so coherent that I don't even need a ??? step!
