I am terrified of fireworks. Like...really. When I was younger, my mother took us kids out to Whitefish Lake in Montana to watch a fireworks show on the 4th of July. Only there was a problem and the freaking barge blew up (and that wasn't the last tragedy that day, stupid Independence Day) and so I associate fireworks with that. Oh my god, I'm ( Read more... )

You should have stayed in Oz if you wanted to avoid fireworks! We are stupidly excitable as a country about fireworks. They can limit the sales and stuff but can prise the potentially dangerously exploding objects from our charred remains.
To be fair Jen hates them too.
This is Cath by the way. My computer has died. Hijacking sisters computer for the win! Or lose depending on which sister you are ^_^

They go crazy in Oz too, just not on November 5th. And the US has December 31st AND July 4th AND the entire summer since they sell the more 'interesting' fireworks on the reservations so people go there to buy them and bring them back to set them off. *shudders*

Your computer died! Awwww :( I hope it gets fixed okay!

Rest assured they never actually hit anything (though that only makes it slightly better) except each other because everything in the world is more intelligent than they were when they were together. My father would have encouraged this behaviour, however, which is why it would have happened in the first place.

And that is one of the reasons he's an asshole.

THat was a very scarey night, but I liked it in restrospect b/c it was the beginning of the end. But, very scarey. I don't think I've ever thought of it from your perspective. It was bad enough on my side of the house, but you were over on that side, weren't you? Ick. Never again!

There is some reasonably strict laws about when you're allowed to let off fireworks, I'm just not sure exactly what they are. Basically, its allowed during/around guy fawkes but not like a week or a month afterwards.
