Lewi picked up my transcripts from La Trobe so I can apply for my postgraduate programs, and I had forgotten how awesome I did! I look at my transcripts now and I'm all proud. Especially of my A/HD in Teaching Maths Method. That essay I did kicked ARSE (92% thank you very much!) and the practicals were also awesome ( Read more... )

92% is AWESOME! I knew you did well but I didn't know you did that well! Congratulations (for years ago but it still counts!)

Here's hoping ONE of them wants me!! *HOPEHOPEHOPE*

Thanks ;) It was a paper about the philosophy of group learning pertaining to mathematics. And it was basically a slandering of all rote learning techniques because memorising something isn't really learning it. You can sing-song the multiplication tables all day long, but it won't help you know what they mean. I researched all sorts of learning philosophies because I sucked ARSE at maths until I got to uni and had a teacher who bothered to explain it. THEN I used the techniques in my classroom and had my students begging me to do fractions again the next day. Booyah!

Aaaand before I write the essay AGAIN, I will stop ;)

That kicks ARSE! I totally agree that rote learning doesn't work with maths, I remember I missed the first couple of lessons of trigonometry which is when, I assume, the teacher explained what the POINT was, so I learned all the cos sin tan stuff and had absolutely no clue what I was supposed to do with it.

But anyway! You're awesome, but then I already knew that. When do you find out if you've been accepted into stuff?

Noooooo, no it doesn't! The teaching essays were more practical than an English essay. I just took my own experiences into account, that's all!

The only thing below a Distinction I got was in DRAMA if you can believe it. It was only worth 5% of the course so the essay could only be 800 words long, with two sources. So I wrote this AWESOME essay about why drama should be taught in schools and I referenced a local newspaper and a book, and apparently the local newspaper was a no-no for some unknowable reason. I think I was too close to the subject matter ;) And when I asked the essay to be re-graded, I asked the course coordinator who, OF COURSE, never did it because she was a loon. Ask Lewi what she did when she almost shafted me out of the Canberra visit by not telling me when to show up at the airport. Old bat.

Anyway, I didn't fight the result because it wasn't BAD, and it was only 5%. It wasn't worth the effort of pushing a rock (old bat) uphill!
