Hey, I have pictures that were taken by my sister Tuesday morning after the storm! All of them are of our yard except for the last one, which is the yard of a lady that lives across the street from us.

Oh, and before you click on the link, just warning you that I got lazy and put all five of them on one page. So even if you don't have a slow dial ( Read more... )

Even if the weatherman said it wasn't a tornado, it looks like it was. At least that tree won't be a problem if this happens again.

My parents cut down almost all the trees in their yard because the guy that removed the downed trees after hurricane Rita said their root systems were damaged and another storm could blow them over. Some were leaning.

You were luck about your car. The tree was right next to it. You're lucky your carport is still standing too. Whew! Close one! Someone was watching you for you guys. :)

They do say that the after effects of downbursts resemble tornado damage so much that it is hard to tell the difference, but there are small telling things.

One, was that on almost EVERY single surface that would have been hit by wind in the same direction that the tree fell was either plastered with leaves (it looked as if someone had just taken a bunch of leaves and glued them onto the car, the shed, the fence, the house...and it was only on one side) or plastered with specks of dirt. So it doesn't show that the wind circulated, it just looked like a wall of wind hit it. Kind of interesting to look at, really.

And yes, someone was watching out for us that night, no doubt about that. ^_^
