Yeah, the price poised against the power. And it occurs to me that actually this whole idea is one that the Victorian age has words for - there's an enormous amount of ethical discussion about the obligations of power, and what one should do. The Five aren't going into it totally blind....
One of geonncannon's, I believe. And all too true. And yet, there are moments when even John, who's clearly gotten the worst deal of any of the Five, still is obviously fascinated by the world - in Revelations, and then in Hollow Men, when he's looking around the caverns.
I'm with Helen on this one too - no surprise there! - but that balance is what's always fascinated me.
