Challenge 29: The art of Tolkien
Hello everyone! For this challenge I'm doing things a little differently. Rather than a challenge on a specific artist, this will be focusing on art produced about the books of J.R.R. Tolkien. I'm posting here images by Tolkien and also by Alan Lee, but you are free to use images by other artists so long as they are illustrations of one of Tolkien's books. Screencaps/images from the movies are not permitted, including Alan Lee's sketches for the credits of Return of the King.

This challenge is partly as a tribute to picadilly_pics, our former mod who I got to know through a Tolkien list-serve she moderated.
Entries for this challenge will be due on Friday, September 12 at 12 midnight EST. You may submit up to 5 icons. You can use a painting more than once, but the icons need to look significantly different from each other. Post the icons, along with their URLs, in a comment at this entry. All comments will be screened.
