Challenge 25: Lord Frederick Leighton

Jul 01, 2008 21:37

Sorry for the delay everyone! Here's the information for challenge 25: Lord Frederick Leighton.

The leading establishment figure in Victorian art, was the first artist to be ennobled. He was President of the Royal Academy for almost two decades, and his presidency was a time of unrivaled prestige, and success. Leighton carried out his duties with panache, and scrupulous fairness. He was a classical painter producing highly finished pictures, and was also an excellent portraitist (see his portrait of Sir Richard Burton the explorer and orientalist). Leighton was a sophisticated, cosmopolitan figure, much of his early life having been spent in Germany and Italy. (Art Renewal Center)

You may submit up to 5 icons. Please use only the following paintings. You can use a painting more than once, but the icons need to look significantly different from each other. They will be due Friday July 18 at 12 pm EST.

If you have any questions, let me know!
