Printing Question

Hello, all you beautiful self-made comic book self-publishers out there. I have a question.

What size and dimensions are easiest for printing? I'm in the middle of making a comic book, and I'm not sure about the best dimensions for the pages to be.

Also, I've seen some websites where you upload your finished comic pages to them and they'll print on ( Read more... )

Have you considered Lulu? They can print color in standard comicbook sizes (6.625 x 10.25") from 1 to 88 pages. It's generally print on demand and you get to decide what's on the cover and back cover (I think on the back they might put a teeny tiny URL, but that's it). I've been pretty happy with them so far, so you may want to give it a shot (though you might want to see if you can find someone who has published comics through them).

Hope this helps!

Yeah, lots of people like Lulu, and they generally make very nice looking books. They can really do just about any format (I have a landscape format book from them), but I think if you want to get an ISBN (and possibly list your book on Amazon) then they have a set list of sizes they can do.
Although if you're really doing it on your own, you'll probably want to do something that can be scaled to 5.5"x8.5" or 8.5"x11" (with a quarter inch margin) so that you can print it on 8.5"x11" or 11"x17" which can easily be done at any copy shop. Most people draw around 10"x15" which scales down to either size pretty well.
Really, you only need to be super precise about about formatting if you are going to have full-bleed, which makes everything complicated.
