Let's get this out of the way, for I am a former Catholic and therefore love the occasional self-deprecating confession: I was much more of a SNES girl than an NES girl, and this means I had never completed the original Metroid. Yeah I've gone through MZM at least 5 or 6 times. Glad you finally got to experience it! (I also play SM annually, and have been since '94 :P)

Some wished that MZM could have been a little longer, or that it wasn't as "open-ended" as SM was, but basically that means people were pissed that they couldn't break it as easily. But there is level design integrated into the game that's purposefully designed for sequence-breaking. Did you ever try any of that? And how's your bomb-jumping skills? ;)

I'm a decent enough bomb-jumper, but the nooks and crannies I found were mostly on the surface, and they required the super bombs that I had not acquired until getting to the space pirate area. I never really accidentally 'break' a game unless I know what to look for. I thought the length was fine! (That's what she said!)
