Postcards from the Edge

Jan 21, 2011 02:17

I really hope everyone who requested got at least SOMETHING interesting from me. I sense I didn't fill a lot of these how people might have been expecting? Also, I have no graphics skills, so all that neat stuff people have been doing with the pictures and all? Yeah, no, you got a picture. And text. Finis.

Twenty-seven, to be exact. That is, if I counted right. No promises. )

fic: gundam wing, fic: oc, fic: criminal minds, fic: buffy, fic: harry potter, fic: bandom, fic: stargate, fic: burn notice, fic: white collar, fic: popslash, fic: blood jewels, fic: ncis, fic, fic: west wing

And this was apparently the reason I'm still noodling around on the internets.

DUDE. These are AMAZING. You do such a lovely job tying these into greater stories, even the non-existent ones. :) I adore mine - Bob Bryar, cursebreaking! \o/ The tone's perfect and makes me want to hug the both of them - or at least be a fly on the wall for that pub meet-up. [And it definitely makes me want to write fic along those lines.] I was curious to see what you were going to do with that Anya and Gerard prompt - it prompted a proper bark of laughter. your Neal voice is SO AWESOME. But I think that the one I liked best aside from my own is the one from Brendon to Donna Moss.

The photos are delightful, most complementary to your vivid prose.

These are so much fun!

Can't lie: while I was writing the Brendon one, I had this TOTAL image of him being suddenly surrounded by SRS BZNS Sekrit Service. AHAHAHAHA.

Also, you are the best. Ever.

Simply breathtaking. I am (as always) in awe of your talent and your generosity.

As for my postcard, it's perfect. It slots utterly into that world and just makes me feel that those lives go on living and you just open a window and suddenly I'm there with them again. Perfect.

Oh, I'm so glad. I always feel like I've abandoned you, just a bit, and things like this give me an ability to come back for a moment.

You don't owe me anything, darling. I don't feel - and never could feel - remotely abandoned. I have had a huge amount of pleasure reading your HP fic and I am immensely grateful. I also enjoy being/reading a small part of your life. It's all win for me - and if you occasionally re-visit HP then that's an added bonus. None of us is entitled to a piece of you. That's not friendship.

*hugs you tightly*

Yes, well. I mean, I definitely know what I was thinking, but I wanted to leave it open to other people's imagination. Glad you enjoyed!

These were brilliant, there's so many I loved even when I didn't know the fandoms and characters that well. Brendon writing to Donna Moss made me giggle the most, the voice was so cheerful and yet sheepish at the same time! My request (Jon/Pete, New Orleans) was exactly what I hoped it would be - sad, because Pete is lonely (which the picture represents so well) but also hopeful because he knows that he can tell Jon that and he'll care. Bob/Gerard in Australia is also going to stick with me a lot. Its so sad, and yet so perfectly Bob in how concise and matter of fact it is. I just wanted to hug him and Gerard and the end of it. I get the feeling I'll be rereading these a lot. Thank you so much for taking the time to fill the requests.

Aw, thank YOU. I was SUPER excited that someone asked for 3%, b/c wow, not one of my more popular ones, and I do adore the boys in that fic, so thank YOU for the awesome prompt.

The 3% is actually one of my favourite bandom fics ever, along with A Light to Burn All the Empires and Just Off the Key of Reason - I think I must just be in love with your Pete falling in love :) I've probably never commented on a lot of your fics because I only fell into bandom about a year or so ago, and I'm usually rubbish at commenting on older fics, but these three in particular became my comfort fics, for when I'm having a bad day and just want to be cheered up!

Aw, that's fantastic to hear. I do enjoy Pete, with all his issues, finding someone to love him. Probably because I can be very Pete-like in certain ways...

Donna and Brendon! That is the most adorable idea of them all. And then the Britney and Justin, oh my heart.

I had a really hard time with the Britney Justin one because, as people who have known me for a long time know, I have some pretty fucking Serious Opinions about Britney Spears and am protective in a way that I am with very very few things, so that one I had to think about a LOT. I'm glad you liked it because evidently you have become the person I worry most about when writing women. There you have it.
