it is JOE'S, not JO'S. JO is short for JOANN, the name of a woman who stays at home and sews quilts for her myriad of homeless cats that she has adopted. JOE, on the other hand, is short for JOSIAH, the biblical figure who decided to open a fast food restaurant on the brown campus and sell us overpriced iced tea.
Joanne is actually my mother's name, so I am well aware that Jo is short for Joann(e) or Jo(h)anna, etc. I have issues, though, making Josiah into Joe. Joe makes me think of mob bosses, Josiah makes me think of Puritans. Jo... is a compromise.
