Epilogue

Diefenbaker looked up from his infinity-dozen donuts (mixed variety) and took a quick peek into the Vale. It looked like the yellow human (obviously the smarter one--all the ones with the shiny yellow on their heads were, that's why they were so rare)--had finally claimed Dief's personal human. That was a big relief. Dief was pretty sure his human wouldn't have lasted much longer without a wolf to take care of him.

Oh, terrific. Now they were doing that jaw-locking thing, which looked stupidly dangerous. Dief sniffed and used his opposable paws to open the next dozen.

Mmmmm. Powdered jelly.

I ADORE YOU!

Even though I take issue with the blonds being the smart ones, my fellow brunette, you!

Well, no one ever said Dief was astute. He has these Opinions that appear to be based solely experientially. :)

I am as squishy as a jelly doughnut.

(Oh, and re the bull semen...wouldn't it have been so much more likely that they wouldn't be caught if they just left the thermos in the car, and the border guards could have just assumed it was coffee? *g* Truth is always weirder than fiction. The thing I used a couple of stories back about counterfeit white tube socks is real, too. Who counterfits SOCKS?)

I kept it together reading this lovely, painful story, but the 'Diefalogue' ripped a single burst of tears out of me.

Great work!
