I'm a little bit infamous within my guild for being the guy who actually knows about the "lol lore." I read every quest I do, even the turn in text if I remember to. If you dig through my very small archive, you'll turn up a post about WoW writing. (I'm a big fan of Sylvanas Windrunner, but I worry Kerrigan will be Flanderized to resemble her. Their stories are only superficially similar!)

Someday I'll figure out what I was supposed to be doing in Scholomance, I'm sure (outside of shooting things as instructed, obviously).

Scholomance is/was the Scourge's research university. They're educating mook cultists so they can be necromancers and work on new things like bone constructs (animated skeletons are fine and dangerous, but what if we replaced their arms with scythes?) and using stolen black dragon eggs to get living dragons that carry the scourge plague. It's the latter project that catches the eye of a gnome working for the Argent Dawn.

Also, Scholomance used to be the Barov estate, and the ghosts of their unfortunate servants

And a small clarification: Story is why I put Super above Zero Mission, not why I put the two of those over Chrono Trigger. That would be crazy talk!

CT doesn't get the nod because it's a JRPG, for which gameplay is a chronic weakness. If CT had combat engine that was actually good instead of barely tolerable (e.g. Dragon Age's, in which I have yet to detect a terrible balance flaw.) it would beat the Metroids.
