The new day has just begun and I can tell you... it's cold! Our digital outdoor thermometer reads 1.4 degrees and will probably dip below zero in the next few hours. BRRRRRRRR! ( Read on… )
My new story is definitely a Harry Potter story. I'm very comfortable writing and exploring the lives of the HP characters and enjoy trying out new challenges with each story I write. My sister has been trying to get me to write something original for several years, but since no plot bunny has hit me in the head with its fluffy little tale (misspelling intended), I'm content to borrow JKR's characters and refine my writing skills until I'm ready to branch out.
Surprisingly, Mutt and I just became friends about six months ago. She and I live across a river from each other and have started getting together whenever possible. It's amazing how small the world becomes sometimes. If we weren't HP fans, I know we would never have met.
I agree that it's nice we found each other through our mutual love of JKR's books. However, I'm just as glad to have several "across the pond" friends, including you, because they broaden my horizons and connect me to people and countries I'm curious about. That's one of the reasons I'm so thankful to JKR for writing seven books we all love to read and share.
I'm so excited we're now mutual friends and I'm looking forward to reading your responses to each new chapter of the new story. It will go up on both SIYE and Phoenix Song starting in March.
I know exactly where Chico is since I was born and raised in Sacramento. Knowing this little piece of information gives me more incentive to cheer on the Packers and put up with all the rabid Steelers fans -- the newest of which seems to be my son who's not as resistant to peer pressure as my hubby and I are.

The QB of the Packers is from Chico so there is huge interest in this area. Not so much from me but my son and the two sons-in-law seem excited.
