Yes, if you go back far enough! Sequoiadendron giganteum, the species of the General Sherman tree, the largest living creature on earth, is our distant cousin. This goes back to even before plants and animals existed as independent entities. Our common ancestor, our shared great*n-grandmother, was something like early eubacteria. Animals and plants cells both share nuclei and many cell structures are similar. The similarities undeniably link the lineage of plants and animals.
