They're out on the fire escape, crouching out of sight.
"Troy, I don't think this is going to work."
"This was your idea, Annie."
"Yeah, but... Abed is really mad at me. Really, really mad. What if this isn't enough?"
"Then we'll go to plan B."
"What's plan B?"
"Boobs. Plan B is boobs."
"Ugh, Troy!"
"Don't look at me like that. Those things are powerful."
"I am not using my - my sexuality to get Abed to forgive me! It's so trashy!"
"Oh, like you didn't use it to get him in the first place."
"I did not!"
Troy raises an eyebrow at her.
"Well... not intentionally, anyway..."
"Look, it doesn't matter. We won't need plan B anyway because plan A is fine."
"But this is so much worse than the Batman incident..."
"He forgave you for that, didn't he?"
"Yeah... but... that was before, and -"
"But nothing. This is gonna work. Trust me. I know Abed gets really intense about these things, but he likes you. He won't stay mad at you forever. Now come on, press 'play' already. It's freezing out here."
"Fine. But if this doesn't work, we are not going with your plan B."
Annie gets up, moves in front of the window, and holds the boombox over her head.
Love... I get so lost sometimes...
"Is it working?"
"Shhh, Troy!"
Days pass... and this emptiness fills my heart
"Turn the volume up."
"I can't! These things are heavy."
When I want to run away I drive off in my car
"He's coming out of the blanket fort!"
"Okay, stay cool, just... channel John Cusack."
But whichever way I go, I come back to the place you are
"Annie?" Abed stops in front of the window and looks her up and down. "What are you doing?"
Curled up in the corner of the fire escape, Troy hisses "Say something!"
"Abed, I..." Annie trails off at first, and then the words tumble out under Abed's expressionless gaze. "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to make you angry, and I really didn't mean to mess things up. I wanted to make things right, but you wouldn't talk to me, and I know you like 80s movies so I went out and got this coat and the boombox and hunted down the tape, and Troy helped me get everything up onto the fire escape, and... I'm just really sorry."
Abed steps closer and peers out. "Hey, Troy."
"Hey, buddy." Troy flashes a smile from his seat in the corner.
Abed turns back to Annie. "You can put it down now, if you want."
She does, arms shaking, and watches him anxiously while In Your Eyes continues playing in the background.
"Did you really climb all the way up here?"
"Yeah."
"Instead of just climbing out our window?"
"...Yeah."
"Like in Pretty Woman."
"I... I didn't plan it like that, but I guess so, yeah."
He considers her for a moment.
"Apology accepted."
"Really?"
"Yeah. You just managed to successfully combine two classic romantic scenarios into one homage without even realising it. And you obviously went to a lot of effort."
"So... we're okay?"
"We're okay."
"Good." She beams. "Is the part where we kiss and make up?"
Abed answers by leaning out the window and pressing his lips to hers.
In the corner, Troy is triumphant. "See, Annie, I told you it would work!"
