Dublin Castle used to be the seat of British administration in Ireland, but these days it's Paddy power all the way.  Some fine buildings and a creative way with colour too.

Some years back, while in England, I took the train* with friends from Brighten to Dover. One of our goals was hitting the castle, a short, but upshill walk from the station. As we made our way up we started noticing guys in red coats--a'la the Revolutionary War--moving through the underbrush. Little creepy until we finally figured out that they were a bunch of Recreators.

What, no Celtic warrior?! Especially the kind that went into battle naked!

Accents: Back in the day, what you'd have heard from a Roman soldier might easily have been a Dacian or a Gaulish or a Macedonian accent, not an Italic one.

Did you tell the Romans that they were in the wrong "British" isle?

They weren't shaking with fear and didn't have vacant expressions, so I don't think they were Ryanair passengers!
