Are We There Yet?

I was really looking forward to aquamoms last night and frustrated that the rain and ugly traffic meant I was only 10 minutes early and didn't get to spoil myself with extra pool time beforehand. Our instructor's been late before, but last night she didn't show up. We started without her, remembering the stretching/warm-up exercises, and when we ( Read more... )

I love the water exercise. No one can tell there if I miss a step or confuse left and right! Not to mention how easy it is on the joints.

I do like the sub instructor best though... she teaches the high impact water class and doesn't vary her routine much when she subs for the moms, so she really gives us a workout. She said one of the mom instructors told her that her routines weren't "good" for pregnant women so she asked a couple of OBs who told her pregnant women could do anything her other classes were doing... so she always tells us "if it doesn't feel good, stop doing it, go with the next exercise."

It's really getting close for you. I mean, I'm close, too, at 30 weeks, but you're REALLY close. That's so neat about the aqua moms group. I honestly think I would have done the same thing. I can't break my routines, if I do, then I feel weird.

29 days left if baby doesn't want to pick her own birthday. I was telling Bear that earlier and he told me to quit terrifying him. ;-)

We're so prepared in some ways it's scary, so now it is just a waiting game.

My only "complaint" about the aquamoms is they don't let you do it more than 3 times a week! I love getting into the water to exercise and love to swim. I'm eligible to take the class for 6 months postpartum at the mom rate (which is $5 less a month than the rehab center's regular classes), but think I may just opt for a gym membership that the whole family can use (the city gym has an indoor pool too).

I really know what you mean about the waiting game. We just had a shower, so we've got the nursery all set up. I've been knitting in there to get used to the idea that there's going to be a new person in our household. I just KNOW i'm going to freak out at the life-change and I want it to be as smooth as possible.

Have you mentioned the no labour thing before? Why no labour? If I'm too nosy, just smack me. :)

Since I'm a 2-time c-section plus multiple miscarriages, he's taking no chances on having problems with my uterus. Chances of rupture go from less than 1% to 4% due to the second c-section.

Actually, a recent study showed that the chances of rupture weren't as high as originally thought. I must see if I can find that article again.

Spend 10 minutes on Google and you can contradict every pregnancy statitistic ever heard... My risk is probably closer to 2-3% because it has been so long since my last surgery as well (it's more dangerous if you're having back-to-back c-sections... within 2 years).

I trust Dr. Chang's judgement, especially since he recommended a VBAC (heck, he *required* a trial of labor) when I saw him before (one of the miscarriages), so I don't see him as the overly anxious to do surgery type.

My preterm labor and bedrest issues with J2 were also part of his decision, I think, as well as the fact that my pelvic malformation makes it extremely unlikely I'd deliver at all, thus putting additional strain on my uterine incision. I also had bad reactions to the Brethine they used to stop my labor with J2 from 37 weeks to 39 weeks.

Glad to hear the family drama has died down now!

I hope the next 4 weeks fly by for you so you'll be a bit more comfortable.
