Dangit...I forgot my glucose drink this morning when I left for work.  Knew I should have brought it to work early and stashed it here instead.  I emailed boss and asked her if I could just work through lunch and leave at 1:30-1:45 to get home, drink the thing, and head for the OB office.  Since I can't eat anything for two hours before drinking ( Read more... )

My midwife said with a previous history of GD, if I failed the 1 hour, there was no point into going into all that trouble for the 3. And while it didn't make me as sick as you got, I still didn't feel well afterwards. So why bother?

I hope you pass it though. GD is no fun.

I'm hoping that's what Dr. C. will think since I had GD with J2 anyway, and being overweight gives higher chances for this pregnancy.

Charles Stross - I discovered him not long ago. Sci-Fi, but fun.

Reviews compare him to Zelazny in style, and wonder of wonders, my library carries all his books. He's on my list. Thanks to you both!

Any particular novel to start with? My library has Declare, On Stranger Tides, The Stress of Her Regard, and Three Days to Never.

I really liked Expiration Date and Earthquake Weather (they are sort of followups to Last Call), also Stress of Her Regard was great.

The newest one is 3 Days to Never. That wasn't my favorite, though it's okay.

Another one is -- erg who wrote Galveston. he is very well regarded and I think he is similar.

and Elizabeth Hand (very dark though)

They've improved it since my last GD test. More like orange soda than the syrup nightmare I remember. I feel like crap today, but it's just that I had to miss a meal for the test PLUS adding a large amount of sugar, which I don't tolerate well as a hypoglycemic.

Any particular series of hers? I know she's got about a dozen. ;-) One of the reasons I've always avoided her was not knowing where exactly to start. I have read some of her co-author stuff with like McCaffrey.
