Ok, first just an odd thought.  Not long ago I bought an electric toothbrush and I must say it makes the whole act more enjoyable though I am a bit saddened that such events that happened in the story "Conversations With and About My Toothbrush" will never happen.  I heard the story through Escape Pod a while ago and thought it was a cute, fun ( Read more... )

I have an unique accent because I lost the hearing in my right ear when I was 4. Between not hearing properly and moving around the Maritimes where there are a lot of accents, I have an interesting way of speaking. I tried to learn the proper way to enunciate however some sounds just don't register and others I don't hear the same. Which is weird because one would think that sounds would stay the same. Apparently the echo factor that is missing is why some sounds are different to me.

What, dare I ask, is a pig-pickin'?

A pig-pickin' can vary from place to place (and some places would pronounce it "pig-picking"). From what I'm used to a pig-pickin' is a social event, usually centered around the entire extended family and close friends. Right down to it, it's North Carolina barbecue ( ... )
