I hope everything goes well with you!

My mother and sister both have thyroid problems but i think it is different as they dont have to have surgery. It makes them put on weight strangely, and my mothers left eye has been affected. Well... she has to have surgery on her eye... but not her thyroid. I thought the thyroid was a gland.

Yep, it's a gland that plays a big part in regulating metabolism. If it's not working well, a person tends to put on weight. Sometimes it works overly much, and a person drops weight to the point of getting sick. Usually, thyroid conditions can be treated with medication. Mine's a little complicated because I was exposed to radiation when I was a baby, which increases my risk of thyroid cancer quite a bit. However, the doc was very reassuring today, and I feel much better about things. I've heard of people's vision being affected -- hope your mom's doing okay. And thanks so much for your good wishes. It means so much to know someone cares.

Hugs -- Elizabeth
