Susan wouldn't have minded, I suspect, since they require a third person - male, or psuedo male - as part of their normal reproductive system, anyway. So why shouldn't 'shit head' be welcome, biologically, into their relationship?
Well, exactly (and isn't Matt present at the conception ceremony in any case :-)
Logically she'd *have* to welcome Matt into George's life for anything to happen since sex for them is "a gift", something given with love (as per the dinner-table discussion in Little Lost Lamb) and - according to George, same ref - purely physical liaisons are unknown. In which case she'd surely respect his emotional attachment to Matt and vice versa. One would hope ;-) although doesn't she show jealousy over George at some point? (I forget which ep, but she goes all chick about him losing interest or summink) .
It'd make a more interesting story if she *didn't*, but on the other hand it would leave George and Matt free to angst about Other Stuff. And working out options for that is likely to be fun.
While we're on the subject: is Buck/Moodri toooo much?
Must dig out my copy of that... the bio stuff's more thoroughly covered in the series but I've forgotten most of it apart from forehead knuckling/two hearts/humming/binnaums/ and all that. Oh, and the male pregancy thing.
I *think* the novels went into it a bit, too, didn't they? in relation to Matt/Cathy sorting out how that part of their relationship was going to work. Not in any detail, knowing my luck, but still.
Hmmm. Better go find those Sardonac-fuelled Marvin/Matt fics again, see how s/he handled it. Unfortunately
As I recall there's a scene in the morgue where Matt and George are looking at a Tectonese corpse that's uncovered down to about the groin. And there's a related scene where George is looking with some puzlement at a condom.
Similarly I seem to recall various scenes from the series where it's at least intimated that while human males and tectonese women are roughly physiologically compatable (with some specific training on the male's part to avoid injury) but a male tectonese/female human pairing is remarked upon as being unusual due to the lack of physiological compatability.
I also recal in the episode where Matt and Cathy are talking about interspecies sex training that there's actually an academy of sorts set up to facilitate it - and one of the graduating couples were a gay couple.
Dark Horizon, was it? One of the TVMs rather than the series per se, or something. None of which are in the box set buggrit, but I've a copy somewhere.
I love the Susan/George scene in the pilot where they're giggling about how strange human foreplay is.
*cheerful* I can see some research is in order. Hee! I love fandoms that give one an excuse to potato make one work for fic.
