Getting very damn narky about all these 'OMG rising cost of childcare' scare stories. Especially comments on same by ignorant asshats who insist their children have a right to highly trained and demonstrably dedicated carer/educators but refuse to engage with the fact that those very carers earn less per hour than a supermarket shelf-stacker.

It sounds a lot like aged care. Aged care fees are, I will admit, very exspensive, and we cop a lot of flack for working out the means tested fees.

BUT WE DON'T SET THEM! HEALTH AND AGEING DOES! AND 80% OF ALL COSTS ARE FEDERALLY FUNDED!

Sorry! Fees that are funded (like childcare and aged care) and yet people complain get my goat.

And I know aged care workers get paid very little as well! Aged care and childcare workers deserve so much more.
