"Father?" he ventured quietly as he stepped in.

"Yes?" Once he saw that it was Liir, he pushed himself up to a sitting position and tossed his legs off the end of the stage.

And he held out the bag like a shield.

Being around the boy's mother for so long had made him at least ... perceptive to people's feelings even if they didn't speak about them outright. He furrowed his brows.
"Have I done something horribly wrong?" He took the bag, though, and headed toward a spot where they could sit and eat.
