Avengers: Endgame

Wow. The trailer is just... a mix of tragedy and lingering horror. Poor Steve. He looks like he's at the last stage before he breaks completely. As a viewer, it's refreshing to see a strong male character like Steve expressing his emotions so clearly. Then again, Steve Rogers has been an interesting character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, never ( Read more... )

AH MY GOD!
You've just reminded me that Chris Evans is no longer going to be part of Marvel after this.
HOLY FUCK.

Will it be Bucky or Sam as Cap? I don't actually care, both would be amazing, but....

CHRIS!!! He embodies Cap so perfectly, and he *is* Cap in real life, such a damn good person.....

I agree - emotions are a good thing! Lets all have some damn emotions!!

LOL! Did you forget?^_^ I think that's the main sticking point for me. No more Chris Evans. He breathed life into a character which many thought was a caricature at best.

Nope. Steve and Bucky get to disappear to have their own happily ever after. Let someone else take the burden of being CA. That's my version and I'm sticking to it. *pouts*

I *made* myself forget. It's so damn sad. I luff him.

Well, I can go with that version. :D Sounds like '4 Minute Window' - a delightful fic.

Yeah. It won't be the same. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch the future MCU movies to be honest.

Oooh, time to re-read that series! XD

Especially in the MCU, there's Steve and there's Captain America. People had built up an image of him based on his Captain America persona, but Steve, the little guy who'd pick a fight with anyone, is the real Steve.

A lot of people are convinced Evans is leaving, but I'm thinking they're just a likely to have Steve not pick up the shield again and give it to someone else. He could cameo in future films that way.

I'm really curious to see how time plays in this one. Lots of rumors about starting off in the future, then time travel to the past to fix things. If done well, it could open up a lot of options for future movies. If not... we'll have plot holes galore.

I think we can credit Chris Evans for that portrayal. Although many criticized him over his previous roles, he really nailed Steve Rogers and made him into a fan favourite character, adding little nuances that gave the character some much needed depth.

The one character I'd be happy to see die is Tony Stark. Okay, he's really popular among American audiences but he's dominated the MCU too much even outside of his own movies. As a redemption arc for a war merchant, his death would be a fitting end narratively speaking.

Yeah, seems like Avengers.4 will start in the future. I hope they pull it off. Ending this phase of the MCU on a high note must be a priority for the studio.

I think one reason RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark is so popular is because he lived it as much as any actor ever could. He'd been in jail and hit rock bottom before he got the role, and the studio didn't want to hire him because they worried he'd be drugged out during filming. My understanding is Jon Favreau really pushed for him in the role, because it really was perfect casting ( ... )

Stark is a very popular character but he's also a type that appeals a lot to American audiences. The rich genius who's also sassy and irreverent toward authority and authority figures, yet saves the day in the end is one that appeals immensely in the US. As soon as I saw Shuri in Black Panther, I knew she's be well received especially in America.

And yeah, RDJ imbues his character with a lot of his own real life experiences which adds another layer of authenticity.

Interesting theory but it would add some complications as to how to merge time travel and magic in the case of the infinity stones.

*sighs*
Oh dear. Seriously, every studio launching its own TV channel or digital platform is only going to fracture audiences' attention. Just how many subscriptions is one willing to pay for? It'll just be an excuse for piracy.

Personally I'm not interested in all the spin-offs if they are going to be about the past.

Right now, I'm looking forward to the Witcher TV series and really hoping they pull it off.
