In the case of the Art Show, when artists with 3d work (potters, sculptors, jewelers) sign up for the show they can opt in to include all or some of their art for the tour. The tour docent then chooses from these artworks which will be on the tour (usually only 1 or 2 works per artist). All members of the tour are given cotton archivists gloves, and each piece of art is described by the docent (or occasionally the artist) and handed around the group so each person gets to hold the art, and look at it up close. The first year we did it, we included all the art from everyone who opted in, and the tour took almost four hours. We try to keep it to a little over an hour, now.
For the Masquerade, we hold this tour during the "halftime" when entrants are waiting to be judged. The tour members wear gloves and the costumes describe their costume (which they may we wearing and invite/guide the attendee to touch portions of it.
