Unknown. It could be that we have more attendees coming, although registration looks only slightly higher than last year at this time, from what I can tell. It could mean that some people who had commuted from Somerville/Cambridge are deciding to stay in the hotel now that we're in Boston again. It could mean that we'll have more last-minute cancellations, when people find roommates. Our block at the Westin doesn't have tons more than the PP block had, apparently, and having this many reservations this early could mean that we will have more people coming later, or it could mean that people have gotten used to booking their hotel rooms early due to the shortage of rooms available in the Hyatt.
Ahh, I was asking based on thinking that this hotel is much bigger than the Park Plaza, but didn't realize that Arisia's room block isn't much bigger than the Park Plaza.
That's what I'm told, anyway. In the Westin, at least this year, we can't entirely own the hotel. They have obligations to airlines, etc., and have kept those rooms aside. I don't think the PP had a similar obligation to anyone other than Arisia, although I could be wrong.
Was just about to ask this exact question. Arisia's in a month and I really could use a room, especially since I've got booksignings and have a ton of books and CDs to haul around...
The innkeeper staff is hard at work processing a very long (and completely unexpected for this year) waiting list.
Unfortunately, we are also dealing with some of the inevitable changes of dealing with a new hotel, and a different registration system. (The hotel staff is great, but processes are very different from last year.)
We expect the first notifications about the waiting list to be going out over the next couple of days.
