I have SO many students like your son. Smart kids, but they somehow don't seem to see consequences or care. ;-;

I was like that in fourth grade and my parents came down on me like the fist of an angry, rabid god, and basically humiliated me by checking my assignments EVERY NIGHT. It sucked, but it worked.

I drive by his school on the way to and from work. I have told him if he doesn't shape up, I will be stopping in after work every day. >XD And if truly necessary come next year, I will move heaven and earth to get transferred over to the other high school, so he can't avoid me.
