i'm a big walker too, when the weather's not too terrible. i map mine too--and sometimes i got on mapmyrun.com and look at other people's walks and runs. i know they're sharing but i feel like a voyeur.
Mobility's important. I'm trying to flesh this idea out, that I think about myself a lot: -When you're depressed, you don't feel like going anywhere. Distances stretch in your mind and you're too anxious to walk to the corner store. -Not having a car really restricts your ability to move, especially if you work and/or don't have hours to spend on public transportation. This is all different in big cities, of course. I was really happy on NYC public transportation because I felt free, independent. -Of course, my struggle is trivial when compared to stuff like Katrina, any war situation, etc. where people are financially unable to move, to leave. I'm too tired to flesh this all out and make it coherent, sorry. Regardless, 5.78 miles is a great start.
