Just a few things...bullet point format, because I can...

  • This will probably amuse cruisedirector, since I initially heard of the song and singer from her... The song "Sands of Time" by Jennifer Cutting? Yeah, every time I hear it, I keep thinking it's Paula Cole, then get all confused as to why I don't recognize the song from any of her CDs that I own. ( Read more... )

I really don't think it'll work. If I remember correctly from the article, he's basing the sequel on a book some dude wrote as a sequel to the play, called The Phantom in Manhattan. Cuz yeah, THAT sounds good...

The Phantom in/of(?) Manhattan sucked big time. I read it when it came out, hoping to goddess it would do the original book justice. Nooooooope.

I love Andrew, but I don't see how he can follow up 1) the most successful musical of all time and 2) Sarah Brightman in the lead role.

Seriously. No Sarah = no gigantico "Phantom" hit.

I haven't read the book and have no intention to. But ITA re: no Sarah, no Phantom hit.... I'm STILL pissed at ALW for the shit he pulled on Sarah re: the Phantom movie.

If it's any comfort, ALW's been saying that for years. It comes up about every six months or so, there's a collective groan in the fandom, and then it goes away again.

Oh thank god! I hadn't heard about this before yesterday, and it honestly kinda squicked me out to hear about it. As fucked up as that sounds...

I don't think it sounds fucked up at all, but then we're talking about a bulletproof fandom of 20 years' standing here. So my perspective might be a wee bit skewed.

If he does actually go through with it, you can at least take comfort in knowing that there are a WHOLE lot of people who agree with you...
