Sunday in the house with Spotteh...
As of right now, I am putting the idea of submitting something to Sword & Sorceress 25 in the "not gonna happen" category. I had a story that might work, but after having it looked over by someone whose opinion I value [and who doesn't know the universe of the story at all], and after discussing it with 
shatterpath, I've come to the conclusion that this is a story that probably will never be completed or see the light of day. It's an epilogue to the original version of the novel that is so defunct now, it's not funny. And I really don't see an easy way to complete the story in a proper way when that version of the universe doesn't exist anymore. There are several characters in the story that have either changed or been completely dropped over the years. I was probably more than a little naive in my optimism that I could use that story as it was, and I really don't have the time to reformat it to the new universe right now. Perhaps when a better grasp on the new shifts in the universe are finalized, I can pull this story out and rework it that way.
In other news, the old piggeh cage has been cleaned out and broken down into its component pieces. Some of those pieces are going to be re-purposed or stored to be used in their original capacity. The Captain's Chest has been moved to where the old piggeh cage was, and
shatterpath got her desk set up again, facing mine. The bulk of this was done while I was taking a nap in an attempt to get rid of a headache I've had since yesterday afternoon or evening. Fucking weather! But this is the first step in the conversion of the basement into bedroom and office and my current bedroom into craft & guest room. amyrayh worked on the backyard during all of this, and has managed to weed-whack all of the tall grass down. Now we just need to let it dry and either rake it up or let the lawnmower mulch it when
shatterpath actually mows the lawn.
Tomorrow,
shatterpath and I will be working on laundry and the kitchen and dining room. Hopefully, we'll get in a walk down to Red Apple to pick up a few things for meals this week. The walk will be good for us. And we'll be doing some job hunting stuff, too...
Writing's been slow, but I'm working on some ideas. And at this point, while I totally and wholeheartedl support DW, I don't think I'll be participating in the whole 3 wks for DW thing. There are far too many people on my LJ flist that won't deal with DW [for a variety of reasons], and I'm not going to alienate them by not posting for 3 wks. I pay for both of my journals and I'll use them both. And yes, YMMV on this topic, and that's okay. But this is how it is for me.
