So Quebec is a "nation within a nation" and therefore has recieved nation status from the government. This applies to all Quebeckers as far as I know. I'm not sure if I'm happy or not about this. Currently ... I'm not. Thoughts? Comments?
I'll write more when less assignments are due.

i personally don't see why this would have happened myself. Being a Quebecer myself, I've never felt I was drastically different, especially to the point of needing to seperate myself from other nations in Canada. If we could be seperated as a nation within a nation, then other ethnicities and cultural groups should strike out on their own.
Though, o n a less serious note, does this mean we get excluded from taxes now?

What Harper did was yank the rug out from under the floor of the seperatists. They were about to put out their own "We are a nation" bit, but Harper both beat them to the punch, and added the line "Within a united canada."
It helps to remember that it was in reference to not the provience of Quebec, but to the Quebecois people, the label is not to make the province it's own little mini-country, but to acknowlege that the people of quebec have a unique cultural identity, that's been around since this country's birth
This won't change lives, this is just denying fuel to the seperatists, and giving a nod to a unique to canada culture within this multi-cultural country of ours
And I hope they very shortly give the same status to the Natives, as they are just as deserving of this kind of nod, if not potentially moreso.
