✨Descendants 2 vs. Rise of the Isle of the Lost✨

book vs movie:

similarity or difference

btw in case it wasnt clear, im pointing out how in the movies it’s a huge storyline that mal thinks the people of auradon (including ben) want her to be smthg she’s not. meanwhile in the books, specifically the third one, she already KNOWS they accept her for who she is, how she dresses, and etc. this mindset is the complete opposite of how she thinks in D2. seeing this really surprised me since it’s such a major subplot in the movies.

I wish the OP continued this series. The quote under the gifset is from page 21 of Rise of the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz.  This book is kind of a prequel to Descendants 2.  It's really fascinating how different the books are compared to the movies.  In the book, Mal doesn't feel pressured to dress like a princess.  She is still wearing leather pants and Auradon is very accepting.  In the movie she feels pressured to dress and act like "one of those Ladies from the Court", a "pretty pink princess."  Mal very clearly loses her "edge" in this movie.  Her hair is platinum blonde with light purple tips, she has literally watered herself down to become more palatable for Auradon.  Even when Dizzy fixes her hair, she colours her hair lighter, almost pink/fuschia.  In Descendants 3, she is back to her hair being dark purple and she is wearing leather again, and dark purple dresses with dragon motifs.  Anyhow, I really wish the OP continued this series on his/her tumblr, because it is really geekishly fascinating.
