So the new Indigo Girls album is out today. I've listened to it a few times at work thanks to the free stream at Logo's website; and I've already pre-ordered the "collector's edition" version that has a second disc with a few live tracks on it, from a major online retailer that will not be named because it will incriminate me. (I know. It goes ( Read more... )

Amazon must like you better than it likes me. When I checked mine today it hadn't shipped yet, but it was "shipping soon" and too late to cancel. :P I actually phoned Landlocked Music to see if they had a copy in stock, and they said they had both versions. If I could have cancelled the amazon order I would have done that and just bought the collector's edition locally, which is what I should have done in the first place! I didn't know I'd be able to get that version at the indie place. Sheesh.

My Amazon copy is arriving tomorrow. I decided that I could wait one more day, particularly since I've heard the whole thing from the audio stream.

Mine still hasn't shipped. Sigh. I just couldn't bring myself to pay for more than standard shipping, but I thought at least it would ship on the release date. I probably won't have it till the weekend. Stupid amazon.

Ah, that's why. I have Amazon Prime, so I get "free" two-day shipping. It costs about $80/yr, but I use it enough that it's worth it for me.

9 times out of 10 when I order from amazon I'm just ordering poetry books I'm not gonna get around to reading immediately anyway, so I wait till I have two or three I want, then get the slow-ass free shipping. I may take them up on their "3 months free amazon prime" offer closer to christmas though, if I end up buying anyone's christmas presents from them and having them shipped. :) I'm just not willing to skip as many lunches as it would take to spend 80 bucks on shipping every year... sigh. Maybe someday I'll win the lottery and I won't be so damn broke.

Yeah, I haven't bought DOD yet either. I did try to charm the guy at the music store into selling me a copy on Monday, since I knew I probably wouldn't have a chance to pick it up for a few days after that. No go, but hey, I get effort points!

Also: Third row seats in the centre-left section, on the aisle, for next month's Toronto show! :-D I feel like it's been ages since I've seen them.

Woo hoo! Third row Amy side is excellent. I hope you'll post a review here after the show!

So far I'm liking the new album, but maybe not quite as much as I wish I did. It will probably grow on me more though. I'm quite addicted to a few of the songs so it's probably only a matter of time for the rest of them. Doesn't help that I have only been able to listen to the whole thing at work so far -- much harder to really sink into it. "Pendulum Swingers" has been stuck in my head all day today though. :)

Amy's side happens to be my null point, too--that is, my best angle for viewing with my eye condition. Happy coincidence, that, since I would like to have Amy's babies. ;) And yep, will totally report on it here, though I'm not sure anything can surpass last time: Getting to meet them outside the theatre, in the dark, in a snowstorm. SIGH!!! One of my favourite memories ever, still makes me grin like an idiot.

Having said all that... I wonder how much I will enjoy the new album myself. I liked ATWLI a lot--it had some truly great moments--but wasn't bowled over or anything, and though I liked the title track, I never did think it made a good album name. I've not heard much off off DOD yet, but I already feel the same way about the title. Still looking forward to the first listen, though!

I think there is a pretty long line for the "having Amy's babies" thing. *grin* I've gotten to meet them a couple of times too -- they are both such total sweethearts.

I've had at least four different tracks from the new album stuck in my head at different times, which is a good omen, I think! Right now "Run" is bouncing around in there. I was totally obsessed with "Little Perennials" when I first heard it, and "Pendulum Swingers" is just catchy as all heck. I hope you end up liking it!
