my former store is now trying to fight me getting unemployment, after corporate and unemployment saying that I was going to get it. The reason the manager of the store has a say is that it comes out of her budget for the store itself and it's causing all sorts of problems therein...the woman in unemployment, who is handling my case and is one of the managers in the processing department for unemployment is fighting for me, however. So...hopefully it'll work itself out...

It depends on the circumstances under which you leave the company whether or not the company gets a say in whether or not you get unemployment. Layoffs that are done for the sole purpose of downsizing are pretty much gaurunteed to receive unemployemnt. Any other circumstances and it is my understanding that the company can contest it.

the thing is, the company oked it. I have an account with UI and I was sent a letter saying I was elegible. The company as a whole said it was fine. The store manager is the one who is disputing it, because it comes out of her budget and, despite her saying yes to someone else who she fired, she doesn't want me to get unemployment for some reason. I have spoken in depth with my case worker at this point. It's my old manager fighting it, not BBY
