There was an emptiness to the office. Jack Bauer felt it. It wasn't that he was alone - to his left was Jordan Spencer, the senior field operative whom he'd worked with for a number of years. Mark Holden was leaning against the couch, and Jack could remember personally recruiting the man out of the Secret Service. Josh Brees, the new technology officer, was representing the tech team at the briefing. Which brought Jack full circle to the empty feeling he couldn't shake

Arica shook her head, knowing who Chappelle was but not knowing the incident being referred to. She had noticed Brittany's absence as well, but said nothing regarding it, waiting for Jack to continue.

Jack surveyed their faces, then summarily explained. "Director Chappelle was killed in his office at Division by Nina Myers in order for her to gain possession of Department of Defense key files. She was later taken into custody by a joint CTU-CIA task force in what you might know as Operation Coventry. That situation was written off as a personal attack against this office. The situation we have in front of us, while similar, is undoubtedly not."

He paused. "We've been hearing rumors, people, that there is a certain high-profile agent with a pending threat on their lives. We don't know who that agent is. We don't know if it's Division, CTU or CIA level. All we know is that within the next week, there will be an attempt on someone's life, and we have to do everything we can to stop it."
