I really want to go to Kingdom 12th Night. We have a fabulous joint concert with Thescorre's choir, Ravensong, planned, and everyone in both choirs is so looking forward to it. The Westminster Choir sang it at a memorial for Samuel Barber at the Spoleto Festival over 20 years ago. I remember the rehearsal where we sang it for Gian Carlo Menotti, who was Barber's lover for many, many years. He sat there and bawled like a baby and finally had to leave the room without saying a word to us - he was that overcome.

I cry every time I hear it.

Awww.

I didn't know that about Menotti and Barber. That piece is one of Barber's best, in either version, though I sang a number of his other pieces over the years.

FWIW, I chose that particular YouTube version because it didn't have distracting video stuff going on. I just wanted the music - the photo of Barber was a bonus.

Yeah, I saw that, though there it appears to have been the site that cancelled. If I was the autocrat, I would be cursing and throwing things. I hope the site recompensed them by offering them that Jan. 17th slot, as opposed to them having to scurry and find a new site.

That seems to be what has happened. The site and all the town's public buildings are closing down for the storm. Or something.

The site did cancel...insurance reasons. It's been rescheduled for next week. I curious to see if that actually means more people will show than if the weather was bad...

Cadell and I are currently making a final decision tomorrow morning but with the weather predictions, it's not looking good. I've already sent condolences to people I was meeting on site in the event that I don't make it.

Thanks. :-) I made that icon because someone was asking to see photos of long hair a year or two back, but I like it.
