A bar that closes at 11:30? Seems weird to me.

I'm actually verrah impressed by your desire to go serve over in the Middle East. You certainly seem passionate about. What would you be doing as a member of the Peace Corps?

Yeah, it considers itself more of a 'tavern/pub' kinda place and for some reason pubs around here tend to close earlier, especially during the week. otherwise the latest a California bar can be open is 2pm. Can't sell alcohol after that.

Well, in what's usually considered "the Middle East", the only places the Peace Corps helps are Jordan and Morocco. It'd be awesome to serve in one of those countries, but I'd rather do Central Asia (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, etc) because it's not quite the Middle East but the culture is similar in that it's very tribal. Um, but as a member of the PC I'll probably end up doing community development work like youth outreach or community organizing etc, or teaching (English probably) some subject in their schools. :)

But yeah, I'm dying to go. People sometimes like to point out the danger aspect, and then I remind them that I'm not too worried considering in the past I'd been excited to be a war-zone reporter. Because I'm crazy, basically.
