Oh, don't volunteer for the Salvation Army. They're evil. The Red Cross is fine, though. Go there.

Nah, I wouldn't really care about that.

When was 2 or 3, the house my family had burnt down and we lost it and almost everything we owned. We went to Salvation Army looking for help getting back on our feet and they didn't do jack but say "sorry 'bout your luck".

The Red Cross, meanwhile, got us some old furniture for our new place, put out ads in papers asking people to help us with new clothes and canned goods and helped my dad find a part-time job to help us get back set up.

Granted, I was TWO or so, but my family never let me forget that. Eff the Salvation Army. Especially since I gave up my moral opposition to them about 2 years ago for a job interview with them and they didn't hire me.

Eff them a lot.

ew, yeah, after that story, I agree. Totally eff them!

I'm not going to volunteer with them anyway because their website/format is making it stupidly difficult to figure out how, so I'm over it. Gonna check out Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and the nearby homeless shelter. :)
